Written by much awarded contemporary playwright, Ka- tori Hall, The Mountaintop is an imaging of the last evening in the life of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Set in Dr. King’s room at the Lorraine Motel on April 3, 1968, the civil rights leader is alone, working to create yet another pow- erful speech. When he orders a cup of coffee from room ser- vice, a mysterious woman arrives, bringing much more than a late-night beverage. What follows is a reflective, often funny, often touching conversation in which Dr. King examines his achievements, his failures, and his unfinished dreams. Audi- ences will see a great leader from a new and very human per- spective. (Contains Mature Language).
